Head Teacher bailed over inquiry into Academy School finances.

A 41-year-old man, understood to be the Headteacher, has been arrested and bailed in connection with suspected fraud as part of an investigation into the Bradford’s Kings Science Academy.

The investigation found “serious failings” with the schools financial management.

Lavinia Newman, founder of ABDS and an active school governor comments:
“The academy was one of England's first free schools which opened in September 2011, but was investigated following allegations made by a whistleblower into its governance, and found nearly £80,000 of public money had not been used for "its intended purpose".”

A DfE spokeswoman said:
"All free schools are held to rigorous account.
"The vast majority are performing well with three-quarters rated good or outstanding, but where there is failure we will not hesitate to intervene."

If you need any help and advice with Charities or Academy Schools, contact Lavinia Newman or Peter Ham now to discuss how ABDS can help bring their experience to these matters.
